Reimagining Film Music: 'Utshob' Centers Bands in Its Narrative

Reimagining Film Music: 'Utshob' Centers Bands in Its Narrative

Dhaka, July 10 -- 'Utshob,' one of the most acclaimed Bangladeshi movies in recent times, is receiving praise for its nuanced narrative, clever and deep conversations, and excellent overall production featuring a top-notch ensemble. The movie has taken everyone by surprise—both viewers and critics alike.

Nevertheless, during an era where nearly every movie incorporates multiple songs, including a required track to cater to cinema-goers, 'Utshob' featured just two songs, sourced from two distinct Bangladeshi bands - and even those were integrated into the narrative.

The first of the two tracks is "Tumi," composed and performed by Aiedid Rashid from the band Level Five, one of the most well-known alternative rock groups in recent years. Recognized for their melancholic tunes, reflective lyrics, and emotionally deep sound, Level Five's music—including the popular track "Tumi" (initially released as a solo single in 2022, apart from the 'Utshob' soundtrack)—merges indie and post-rock elements, providing a unique and sincere voice within the regional rock community.

The second song is a popular tune among fans of Bangladeshi band music: "Dhusor Shomoy" from the progressive rock group Artcell. It was initially launched on April 1, 2006, as part of their second studio album 'Oniket Prantor', and quickly emerged as one of the band's most celebrated songs.

A beloved progressive rock track, Artcell's "Dhusor Shomoy" is recognized for its lyrical richness and emotional power. Its presence in Utshob brought a strong sense of nostalgia and connection, perfectly matching the movie's themes of memory, sorrow, and deep feelings.

Concerning the inclusion of these two songs in the movie, 'Utshob's co-writer Ayman Asib Shadhin stated to UNB that adding these tracks had always been a long-held aspiration for him and the crew.

Being a passionate movie enthusiast and a supporter of modern band music, I have always wished to incorporate band songs into our film—and fortunately, I discovered that the 'Utshob' team, particularly our director Tanim Noor Bhai, had the same idea. Nevertheless, the reaction we got surprised us and went beyond anything we could have anticipated; we never thought people would appreciate it so much," Shadhin said to UNB.

"We had earlier incorporated band songs in our OTT series like 'Kaiser' ('Nightdriver' by EIDA and 'Eden' by Arekta Rock Band) and 'Contract' ('Oniket Prantor' by Artcell) - and the positive feedback motivated us to use band songs in our movie. However, it was definitely a bold decision, particularly since most commercial and multiplex films typically include several tracks - often featuring a 'required' item song," he added.

"Additionally, the entire process of working with a band—persuading them to be involved in the story to discussing fair payment—is not without challenges; however, thanks to Level Five and Artcell, who worked exceptionally well with us, despite being aware of the possibility of failure in this experiment," Shadhin said, commending the bands.

Viewers both in the home country and overseas have shown great excitement about the film and its soundtrack. "I wasn't very familiar with Level Five's songs prior to this, but after seeing 'Utshob,' the track 'Tumi' has become a regular on my daily playlist," said Samiha Mahzuza, a Master's student in Information Technology at Western Sydney University, who spoke to UNB following her screening of the movie at Reading Cinemas Auburn in Sydney, Australia — where the film is currently leading at the box office.

In the meantime, Artcell's "Dhusor Shomoy" has smoothly enhanced the film's storyline, as per most viewers. "It's one of my top favorite tracks, and the scene we envisioned for it in the movie was perfectly matched by the band," Shadhin said to UNB.

Guitarist Ashiqul Alam Ashiq from Level Five expressed gratitude to fans for the strong reaction to "Tumi," stating to UNB that the band feels privileged to be part of the movie.

"Being involved in this movie is everything to us. It's incredible to see our song presented so beautifully—we couldn't have wished for anything better. Witnessing our childhood idols, such as Artcell and the amazing cast, in the film moved us deeply, making it a unique and unforgettable experience," Ashiq said to UNB.

The primary force behind this musical integration, Tanim Noor, is gaining widespread recognition and both critical acclaim and commercial achievement for his first feature film 'Utshob' as its director and co-producer.

The individual I collaborated with and cherished passed away due to COVID-19 in November 2020. I was devastated. In an instant, I lost my earnings, my faith, my love, and my mental stability. With depression and sorrow weighing me down, my only choice was to remain indoors.
I often used the internet and noticed people frequently complaining about delayed deliveries. This made me realize that online shopping was growing despite the restrictions. It encouraged me to dive deeper into e-commerce research. I spent several weeks in a boot camp program.
After completing my studies, I started my own business. My enthusiasm for fashion and my financial situation were the driving forces behind it. Managing money had become my main concern, yet I still desired to appear well-dressed and stylish. I aimed to create a space where women who are mindful of their budget could discover items that resonate with them and are unique and uplifting.
My business strategy is constantly evolving to represent the modern African woman. PANALOVE, including its name, captures this essence. It combines the concepts of love and Pan-Africanism.

Wall Street nears records in winning week finish

Wall Street is moving forward on Friday, heading into its third week of gains in the past four, with major U.S. companies reporting better-than-expected profits for the spring.

The S&P 500 rose by 0.2% during early trading, following a new all-time peak the previous day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 25 points, or 0.1%, as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time, while the Nasdaq composite increased by 0.4% after reaching its own record high.

Norfolk Southern rose 2.6% following a report from an AP source indicating that it is in discussions with Union Pacific regarding a merger, which would result in the biggest railroad company in North America, linking the East and West coasts. However, any such agreement is expected to encounter significant examination by U.S. authorities. Meanwhile, Union Pacific's shares declined by 0.5%.

Netflix, on the other hand, dropped 4.7% even though it announced a better-than-anticipated profit for the most recent quarter. Analysts noted that it's not unexpected for the stock to perform poorly after it had already increased by 43% this year prior to the day in question. This is six times higher than the S&P 500's gain.

Chevron increased by 1.3% following the completion of its purchase of Hess. The acquisition received approval after a positive arbitration decision in Paris concerning certain assets belonging to Hess near the coast of Guyana.

Positive earnings results for the spring boosted the performance of several stocks. Charles Schwab increased by 4.4%, while Comerica went up 2.3%.

In the bond market, Treasury interest rates declined before a report due on Friday morning that will reveal U.S. consumers' sentiments regarding the economy and inflation.

The 10-year Treasury yield fell to 4.42% from 4.47% at the end of Thursday. The two-year Treasury yield, which is more indicative of expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's short-term rate decisions, also decreased. It dropped to 3.86% from 3.91%.

A senior Federal Reserve official, Gov. Chris Waller, stated late Thursday that the Fed should lower its overnight interest rate at its upcoming meeting in a few weeks. This comes after strong criticism from President Donald Trump, who has been condemning the Fed for keeping interest rates unchanged this year rather than reducing them, as it did toward the end of last year.

Reduced interest rates might provide a stimulus to the economy, and Trump has also suggested they could assist the U.S. government in reducing expenses on debt servicing, although this remains unclear. The interest rates the federal government pays on its long-term debt are often influenced more by the perceptions of bond investors than by the actions of the Federal Reserve, and these rates can sometimes move in conflicting directions.

The head of the Federal Reserve has been emphasizing the need to observe more information on how Trump's tariffs impact the economy and inflation before the Fed takes its next action. The risk of lower interest rates is that they can further stimulate inflation, and prices may already be showing signs of rising due to the tariffs.

Traders on Wall Street still believe that the Fed is more probable to start reducing interest rates in September, rather than later this month, as indicated by CME Group data.

In foreign stock markets, indices showed varied performance across Europe and Asia. Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased by 1.4%, while Tokyo's Nikkei 225 declined by 0.2% ahead of a vote for the upper house of parliament on Sunday, which might reduce the ruling coalition's majority in that chamber.

Unichem Group Launches "All Together Now" Legacy Documentary in the UK

In a filmic experience that touched the hearts of many throughout the nation, healthcare innovators Unichem Group, in partnership with Luex Healthcare UK, launched their acclaimed documentary,“A"Come Together Now," for public awareness.

In a realm where heritages are frequently passed down, thisone that was achieved amidst challenges, dedication, and the unspoken resilience of a family that would not collapse.

At the heart of the narrative is Dr. H.D. Mohan, a person who left school at 12 and was uprooted during the Partition of Sindh in 1947, an event that marked one of the most harrowing mass movements in recent history.

Numerous Sindhi Hindus, like him, left their native land during a period of turmoil and bloodshed, ultimately discovering safety and direction in Africa.

Dr. Mohan traveled to Liberia in West Africa, where he reestablished his life and established a successful pharmaceutical company. He didn't merely sell medications; he became the reliable link between West Africa and major global companies such as Pfizer and Boots, assisting in introducing international standards and life-saving products to new areas. For Dr. Mohan, this was not just a business venture, but a mission: to heal with respect, to serve with modesty, and to lead with passion.

But in 1989, Liberia was engulfed by civil war. The business was lost. Once more, everything was destroyed. Records were gone, assets wiped out, twice uprooted, twice left with nothing, yet he started over. This time, in Ghana, not with resentment, but withboundless humility. Not to gain riches, but to regain wellness.

With him during the company's most critical years was his son, Sir Raj Mohan, currently serving as the Executive Chairman of Unichem Group.

A powerful yet subtle figure, Sir Raj, during the civil unrest in Liberia, played a key role in rebuilding the company from scratch in Ghana in 1992, bringing with it a stronger spiritual dimension.

He has brought spiritual depth, ethical clarity, and a sense of purpose across generations to the company. With his leadership, Unichem evolved from a family-owned business into a true business family. And it is by his consistent guidance that the company now has a presence throughout the continent.

Extending this vision around the world is Sunil Mohan, CEO of Luex Healthcare UK, whose international leadership has turned the Luex name into a representation of medical reliability and moral affordability.

In the past 30 years, with Mr. Sunil at the helm, Luex's main products have become essential in Africa, such as: Luex Cough Syrup – Preferred by more than 100 million individuals over the last 20 years.

Other options include Mycolex – an antifungal treatment endorsed by the Dermatology Society, and Metrolex-F – a reliable therapy for infectious diarrhea, known for saving millions of lives.

Backing the larger vision is Vishaal Mohan, the oldest of the Mohan brothers. Mr. Vishaal serves as CEO of Unichem Ghana, and his strategic guidance keeps steering the company's direction with honesty as he leads one of the most energetic and capable pharmaceutical marketing teams in the region.

Among the leading figures is Jason Nana Yaw Mohan, CEO of Unichem Industries, who is a well-known and influential presence in the nation's healthcare sector. With his charm, humility, and strong dedication to building a lasting impact, Jason has been instrumental in keeping the Unichem narrative closely tied to the communities it supports, not only through pharmacies but also within local areas and worldwide.

In addition to its filmic excellence, the documentary stands as an archival achievement and includes more than 50 perspectives from various sectors within the healthcare field:

From pharmacists to decision-makers, physicians to suppliers, government representatives to local collaborators, each provides a perspective on the human essence within the brand.

Among the numerous strong acknowledgments: Dr. Bernard Toboh, prominent urologist:They have established themselves as a pioneer in unyielding Quality Healthcare.”

Presented by Natalie Fort, the opening screenings highlighted that Unichem is more than just a pharmaceutical company. It is a dynamic narrative, reflecting perseverance, transformation, and innovative leadership.

And it serves as a reminder that certain legacies are not passed down — they are gained, each and every day.

The CEO's Dramatic Descent

Andy Byron built a vast domain reaching toward the cosmos, only to see it collapse dramatically back to the ground, plummeting like a rocket shaped like a phallic symbol.

Such errors eventually come to light, and it's evident they weren't ready for it. Poor fellow. So much work put into establishing an astronomy business, only to see it crumble like a house built from celestial symbols.

The public was abuzz, with harsh remarks and empathetic comments that echoed, "Oh no, our alcoholic friend has relapsed once more." Yet beneath all the criticism, the real question lingers: How could someone so intelligent act so foolishly? Why didn't he just get a divorce first? Why not manage it properly?

Perhaps it was pride or perhaps it was anxiety. Or maybe it was simply due to a crucial discussion that never occurred. Even with our advanced technology, luxurious timepieces, and modern AI therapy applications, humanity has yet to solve the "infidelity equation."

I wonder if they ever discussed this fact: that when men think about sex, their brains activate almost twice as much as women's. And this desire doesn't stem from logic or loneliness; it originates from something more fundamental. Deep-rooted. Innate. In the shadowy areas of the brain, beyond logic and remorse, there exists a lizard resting in calm water. It doesn't communicate. It only releases a rhythmic craving, like an ancient swamp, waiting for motion.

A companion once shared with me the reptile within his mind, a primitive, dark realm where desire dominates, surpassing all reason and remorse. Regardless of how refined men may be, they all possess this instinct—warmth, intimacy, a look that feels fresh. The male mind, much like a wild animal, is constantly watchful, scanning for its next meal.

But longing is not a justification. It requires attention, discussion, and work. That same friend sat down and honestly discussed his reptilian instincts with his wife. Fortunately, she was receptive. They worked together to create a barrier. Most people, however, simply flee, like zookeepers who run when the crocodile gets loose.

Asians adopt a distinct method. Someone once claimed that Westerners are more prone to cheating, and the CEO of the Astronomer certainly did not do anything to dispel that stereotype. However, I attempted to clarify.

No, there isn't a cultural 'menu' in the West similar to what exists in Vietnam. There are no late-night massage parlors, no evening cafés, no questionable 'services,' or enigmatic cuddling under red lights and shadows, fishing and lady services (which I've only heard about, not verified to be real, but find amusing).

However, it's only fair to say that Vietnamese people possess a strong cultural method to maintain order: jealousy-driven fights.

One factor that keeps Vietnamese men in order, similar to the unstable handrails on the third floor of a karaoke bar, is the jealous fighting. It's no longer just loud arguments. Over time, it has developed into a contemporary version of traditional performance art. There are stages, precise timing, and lighting. Production crews that surpass those on national television. I've watched the videos, read the subtitles, and I'm still tormented.

If Byron were living in Ho Chi Minh City, his wife wouldn't simply erase his last name without a fight. Instead, she'd share a story with the soundtrack "First love never fades," gently playing as a picture of unusual slippers by the entrance is shown. She would then gather her group of friends, reserve a café with reliable Wi-Fi, and initiate a well-planned attack, broadcasted in full 4K with high-quality microphones, ring lights, and three different camera perspectives. TikTok. Facebook. Zalo. Everything ready. Within 15 minutes, the mistress's official ID and middle school records would show up in the comments, causing a frenzy, and the internet would go wild.

All of this is merely a cultural reaction to one biological reality: men possess stronger sexual desires. The more power they hold, the greater the temptation they face. This inclination is already in place. However, desire is not an excuse. It simply means that effort is required. Men must sit down and have an honest conversation with their wives—something as challenging as traveling to the moon. No artificial intelligence can rescue us from this issue. No therapist can help. Not even Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, who once wrote: "Everybody knows that you've been faithful, Oh, give or take a night or two."

I continue to ponder: why do these massive, recurring failures keep occurring? Infidelity. Treachery. Disintegration. People claim, "It's evil!" and express moral disapproval. However, I choose to step back whenever I hear terms like "evil" or "good." I put on my anthropology lens and observe humans as if they were ants. As another species. From a distance, it often becomes clearer.

My companion, after courageously discussing the crocodile hiding in the depths of his thoughts with his spouse, discovered a method to manage it. He started attending church more frequently, where the beastly mind could be redirected through prayers such as, "Lead us not into temptation." Alternatively, through Buddhism, he practiced mindfulness to watch and let go of cravings. He occupied himself with creative and constructive routines. He steered clear of alcohol and stayed away from gym-related temptations. He transformed into a man of stoic discipline, with a fortified wall of faith and a loaded revolver of determination, prepared to fire when the wild creature knocked once more.

Perhaps that CEO wasn't wicked. Maybe he was simply negligent. Perhaps the relationship had already concluded, yet he was unable to acknowledge it. What he might have required, possibly, was a single truthful discussion. At the appropriate moment.

Byju Raveendran Accuses GLAS Trust Counsel of Baseless Claims

New Delhi [India], July 18 (ANI): In a series of statements, the founder of the struggling ed tech company BYJU's, Byju Raveendran, has stated that the legal representatives of the GLAS trust have presented unverified accusations against him during a hearing in a US Court in Delaware. GLAS Trust is the entity that acts on behalf of the lenders.

In a post on X, Byju Raveendran claimed, "Surprising disclosures from Delaware court records! GLAS attorney Ravi Shankar is once again fabricating stories to influence rulings. He is promoting 'reports' suggesting I am in talks with senior Indian officials for 'large payments' — completely false, with no proof provided. This is happening in a legal case where I am not even involved to defend myself!"

"Extract from the transcript: Shankar states these 'reports' indicate private or unofficial agreements to settle FEMA issues. NO EVIDENCE, ONLY ATTACKS! These FEMA investigations targeted TLPL - currently illegally controlled by GLAS, represented by Ravi Shankar as 99% of the COC! Why would I," the second post stated.

"The evidence? There isn't any. Only that Ravi Shankar and GLAS have 'received reports.' From where? Their own distorted inner thoughts? This is their strategy: -Make an exaggerated statement in Delaware to create fear and influence decisions in the Delaware court. -Repeat the figures '533m' and '1.2b' multiple times, without," the third post stated.

Further, Byju Raveendran alleges that the legal team has been leaking information to harm his reputation.

"This isn't an isolated incident. Shankar has consistently used slide decks to mislead—by leaving out important details about signatures, jurisdiction, and service dates to create a misleading image. It's a recurring pattern of courtroom drama: lie and omit in US court, leak information to Indian media, and harm reputations while all my significant payments were directed to TLPL. Today, I have nothing left except my shares in TLPL! And, for the nth time, no funds are 'missing' and we do not possess any of these funds! The future of thousands of employees and millions of students has been ruined by GLAS...," his posts stated.

Byju Raveendran also stated that he is working on a $2.5 billion legal case targeting the investor.

I've had enough of their defamation efforts and the misrepresentation in court. Moving forward, I will utilize all available resources to force them to rectify the harm they've done and ensure they make significant payments that will aid in rebuilding our company. We are getting ready to file a $2.5 billion lawsuit against... This goes beyond me. It's about justice for the thousands who have supported us despite being manipulated, misled, and subjected to legal intimidation. We will fight back—using the truth, evidence, and every relevant platform," he stated in his post.

Previously, the founders of BYJU'S mentioned that they were thinking about taking legal steps against entities they claim are attempting to harm their business.

"The behavior of Alpha, Glas Trust, and its lawyers in front of the courts has been unacceptable and inappropriate in our opinion. We retain the right to employ all legal methods to achieve justice for the BYJU's founders. Legal claims have already been filed in India against Glas Trust, which was previously a subsidiary of Think & Learn, and now Glas Trust asserts it has control over other parties," said J Michael McNutt, Senior Litigation Advisor at Lazareff Le Bars Eurl on behalf of the BYJU's founders.

"Further claims are being developed against these parties in different regions. These claims, which may be filed by all or some of BYJU's founders, are anticipated to seek financial compensation of at least $2.5 billion," the Litigation Advisor stated.

BYJU's additionally stated that there is no court order in any region, including India or the United States, mandating Byju Raveendran or Divya Gokulnath to pay any sum to Think & Learn, or any affiliated entity of Think & Learn. (ANI)
