Jessica Mulroney's Life After 16 Years of Marriage

Jessica Mulroney, a former close friend of Meghan Markle, has reportedly separated from her husband Ben after 16 years of marriage. The Canadian stylist, now 45, is no longer wearing her wedding ring and shared the news about the split during a lavish wedding in Toronto last month, according to sources.

This particular wedding was attended by several high-profile individuals, including Drake and LeBron James. The couple, who have three children together—daughter Ivy, 12, and twin sons Brian and John, 14—were once considered among the top socialites in Toronto. Their lives were filled with glamour and public attention, especially when their friend Meghan began dating Prince Harry in 2016.

However, Jessica’s reputation took a hit following a controversy in 2020 related to the Black Lives Matter movement. A Canadian source told Page Six that the couple had separated some time ago, and Jessica seemed both sad and relieved to have found some clarity. Another insider confirmed this, noting that the separation had already taken place.

The couple's marriage was once one of the most prominent in Canada. Ben, a former TV presenter, is the son of Brian Mulroney, the former Prime Minister of Canada, who passed away in February 2024. Their relationship gained even more attention when Meghan started dating Prince Harry, which brought Jessica into the spotlight as well.

The Impact of the Controversy

Jessica played a significant role in Meghan's early relationship with Prince Harry, helping keep it private and even styling her for her 2017 engagement photos. Her children also had notable roles in the 2018 royal wedding. However, things began to change when Canadian influencer Sasha Exeter accused Jessica of racism in 2020. Exeter claimed that Jessica took offense to a general social media post encouraging influencers to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Exeter alleged that Jessica responded with “a series of very problematic behavior and antics,” which eventually led to a written threat. In her apology, Jessica mentioned her friendship with Meghan, stating, “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and center. It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices.”

Struggles and Recovery

In the aftermath of the controversy, Jessica and Meghan appeared to grow distant. Around the same time, she lost her job as a fashion contributor on Good Morning America. Additionally, her reality show I Do, Redo was canceled by Canadian network CTV, and she stepped down from her charity roles. According to a source, Jessica was upset that she couldn't find work after her friendship with Meghan faded.

Jessica addressed the situation publicly in November 2020, telling Page Six, “I still feel a lot of shame. I feel that people believe the worst in me.” In November 2021, she posted an optimistic message on Instagram: “There is hope… I’ve found it through sobriety and therapy. My life is happy again. I wish this for you all.”

New Chapter

Despite the challenges, Jessica seems to be moving forward. She has been open about her journey toward recovery and personal growth. While the details of her separation from Ben remain unclear, it is evident that this chapter of her life is marked by reflection and change. As she continues to navigate her new path, many are watching closely to see what comes next for the former socialite and her family.
