Exciting News for Roland Orzabal and His Wife

Roland Orzabal, the renowned singer from Tears for Fears, has shared some exciting news with his fans. He and his wife, Emily Rath Orzabal, are expecting their first child together. The couple, who have been a part of each other's lives for several years, recently took to social media to share the happy announcement.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, they shared a sweet photo of Emily showing off her baby bump while posing in front of a rock backdrop adorned with plants. The image was accompanied by a simple heart emoji, highlighting the joy and love that the couple feels.

A New Chapter in Their Lives

The news of the upcoming addition to their family comes five years after the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2020. Due to the challenges posed by the pandemic, they had to cancel their original wedding plans. However, they eventually celebrated their union in a beautiful setting on top of Aspen Mountain in Colorado.

Emily reflected on the experience, sharing how she felt during the time when the pandemic disrupted their plans. "I felt as all corona brides have been feeling: angry, sad, gypped, and confused as to when we should have a wedding," she mentioned in an interview.

The following year, the couple hosted a larger celebration at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, where they were surrounded by their closest friends and family. This event marked a significant milestone in their relationship and allowed them to share their joy with those who matter most.

A Love Story That Inspired Music

Roland and Emily's relationship has not only brought them happiness but also inspired some of his creative endeavors. The singer has often spoken about the positive influence Emily has had on him. In interviews, he has praised her for teaching him how to be kind and polite, which has helped him in both his personal and professional life.

Moreover, Emily played a crucial role in reuniting Roland with his former bandmate, Curt Smith. The band, known for hits like "Shout" and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," came back together in 2017 to release their new album titled "The Tipping Point." This marked their first release in seventeen years and was a significant moment for fans of the group.

"I went round to Curt's place with an acoustic guitar and we went straight back to being 18-year-old kids," Roland recalled. "Curt came up with this riff, 'No Small Thing,' and we were off. So that was the key that unlocked the album."

A History of Love and Loss

Before meeting Emily, Roland was married to his teenage sweetheart, Caroline Orzabal. The couple, who met in their teens in Bath, were together for 35 years and had two sons, Pascal and Raoul. However, Caroline passed away in 2017 after battling alcoholism-related dementia and cirrhosis.

After Caroline's death, Roland described his world as "sort of fell apart in 2018." He sought help in rehab and found it difficult to return to music. "I thought that was it, because Caroline had gone, [longtime Tears for Fears collaborator] Alan Griffiths was gone, and immediately my mind went to Curt," he shared.

Despite the pain of loss, Roland has found new love and purpose with Emily. Their journey together has shown the power of love and resilience, and the upcoming arrival of their child is another chapter filled with hope and excitement.
