A Rising Star from St. Louis
St. Louis has long been a hub for creative talent, and one of its most recent success stories is Slayyyter. Known for her unique blend of pop and electro-punk, she has carved out a space in the music industry that resonates deeply with millennials. Her hits such as “Miss Belladonna,” “I Love Hollywood,” “Daddy AF,” and “Mine” showcase her ability to mix nostalgia with modern flair.
Born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri, Slayyyter grew up surrounded by the rich cultural landscape of St. Louis. She often reflects on how the city’s authenticity and diverse community have influenced her artistry. “I’ve always felt very proud of my hometown and where I come from,” she says. “Growing up in the suburbs or in a city like St. Louis, it’s real people and real culture.”
Despite the challenges many face in believing they can make it out of St. Louis, Slayyyter has proven otherwise. She credits the city’s vibrant music scene for inspiring her early on. “There are so many artists and actors who have come out of St. Louis,” she adds. “It’s something that really motivated me to push forward.”
Slayyyter’s journey began in 2018 when she released her first project on SoundCloud. It was a bold move that paid off, leading to a growing fanbase and over two million monthly listeners on Spotify. She recalls her days as a hair salon receptionist in De Pere, Wisconsin, and how she never imagined her life would take such a turn. “I never expected to have this happen,” she says. “But I’m very grateful that it did.”
Her early years were shaped by the internet, particularly platforms like Twitter and SoundCloud. These spaces helped her develop an understanding of the music industry and the importance of staying connected with fans. “I became very internet savvy, and it definitely helped with my music down the line,” she explains.
As she prepares for her third studio album, Slayyyter is focusing on blending nostalgia with fresh sounds. “It touches on nostalgia without borrowing too heavily from the past,” she says. The new music draws inspiration from her teenage years, reflecting the emotions and experiences of that time. “All the new music is very reminiscent of things during my teen years, and like my high school years,” she notes.
One of the standout tracks from her upcoming release is “Beat Up Chanel$.” Slayyyter describes it as her magnum opus, combining a hard, aggressive feel with a soft and emotional chorus. “It feels like one of my favorite things I’ve made,” she says. Fans can expect the single to drop in early August, and she’s already sharing snippets on social media to build excitement.
Currently on tour with Kesha, Slayyyter has found a perfect match in her performance style. “Her show is so amazing and inspiring,” she says. “It’s been fun seeing her every night live, and I feel like she inspired so much of my music.”
While on the road, Slayyyter doesn’t forget her roots. When she returns to St. Louis, she enjoys visiting local spots like Busch Stadium, Lion’s Choice, Imo’s Pizza, and Gioia’s Deli. She also cherishes the memories of the Delmar Loop and The Gramophone, where she used to spend time as a teenager.
During a recent tour stop in Maryland Heights, Slayyyter had the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a Cardinals game. Inspired by Mariah Carey, she did it in heels, adding a touch of flair to the moment.
Fans can follow Slayyyter on Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, Instagram, and X. Her journey continues to inspire, proving that talent and determination can lead to great success no matter where you’re from.
